Bienvenido "Pet" Bautista, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Universal Robina Corporation (URC), was recently awarded the Communications Excellence in Organizations (CEO) Award for 2005 by the International Association for Business Communicators (IABC).

Held at the Hotel InterContinental Manila, the CEO Excel Award for 2005 recognized senior executives who effectively use communication in enhancing the organization, thus achieving key objectives and improving profitability. Some of Bautista's most notable projects in this area are: the State of the Business Meeting (SOBM), which cascades information relevant to business operations, to all employees regardless of rank; the Salu-Salo, a monthly get-together with selected employees in an atmosphere of transparency, camaraderie and fun; and Pet’s Corner, Bautista’s regular column in the company newsletter.

IABC, the local chapter of an exclusive international network of more than 13,000 business communication professionals in over 60 countries, holds this annual event to raise public awareness of the importance of communication in business and organizational management. IABC likewise aims to recognize the top-level executives who have shown extraordinary skills as communicators, and to present their accomplishments as models of best practices in organizational communication.
