A Huntsarap! Morcon Dish

Hunt's recent "Huntsarap!" culinary contest which was held at the Binan Municipal Gym in Laguna, highlighted local talents who proved that a feast can be inexpensive and filling. The affair, hosted by comedienne Joy Viado, featured the contestants' delicious, easy-to-prepare, budget-friendly dishes.

Caterer and full-time mom Nenita Rosarito dominated the Huntsarap Carinderia Chef category with her delectable and economical Morcon. "Sa Hunt's Tomato Sauce, ang pagkain mo di lang mas sumasarap, mas maraming tao pa ang nakakakain," reveals Rosarito. "Sa negosyong tulad ng carinderia, dapat masarap at nakabubusog ang luto mo. Para mas malaki ang kita mo, kailangang masaya ang customer mo." Rosarito won P5,000 and a catering set to enhance her business.

Rosarito shares her winning, easy-to-follow recipe:

Rosarito's Morcon
Ingredients:
1 kilo pork, chopped into long strips
1/2 kilo hotdog, sliced
1 pc boiled egg, sliced
1/4 kilo chicken liver, chopped
1/4 kilo pork fat, sliced
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup cheese, minced
250 g. Hunt's Tomato Sauce
2 pcs onion, chopped
1 pc garlic, minced and fried
5-6 pcs calamansi
1/4 kilo lettuce
1/4 kilo pechay Baguio
1 tsp iodized salt
Pickles, minced
Soy sauce to taste

How to prepare:
Mix the hotdog, cheese, pickles, pork fat, liver, egg, butter, fried garlic, onion, Hunt's tomato sauce, soy sauce, salt and calamansi. Roll the mixture inside the pork strip. Fry the roll until tender. Serve with pechay Baguio or lettuce.

    Thank you for posting this morcon recipe. I would like to try it but I am having a little difficulty following the instruction
    .
    I am at a lost in the part which says "roll the mixture inside the pork strip". Under ingredients it says chop pork into strips. Does this mean slice pork into thin, long strips. Then on each pork strip, add the stuffing/mixture then roll?
    Or are you just using one long, thin pork strip, add all of the stuffing and then roll? Paki clarify lang po, kasi mukhang masarap ang recipe na ito. Thank you.
