Gokongwei Companies, Tom’s World & GMA Kapuso host Give-a-Gift event
Two hundred children from Valenzuela and Pateros were guests of honor of the Gokongwei group, Tom’s World and GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) in the recent Give-A-Gift 2009. The event, which was held in Tom’s World family entertainment center in Robinsons Galleria, was full of song-and-dance numbers, merry-making and gift giving.
Already on its 5th year, this annual tie-up between the Gokongwei group, GMAKF and Tom’s World is an offshoot of GMAKF’s Give-A-Gift: Alay sa Batang Pinoy project.
“We’d like to help impoverished kids enjoy the Yuletide’s festivities even for just a few hours,” said Nic Lim, Senior Vice-President, JG Corporate Human Resources. “We hold this yearly and it has become an important part of our CSR program. We are very fortunate to be able to work with such a noteworthy organization as GMA Kapuso Foundation, and a very supportive group like Tom’s World.” Lim, together with the JG Summit Management Trainees and other employees of the Gokongwei group, partied with the Kapuso kids, who were recipients of the Foundation’s Feeding Project.
As part of the event, Tom’s World treated the children to arcade games and amusement rides like the Carousel, Crazy Bus and Balloon Wheel. Afterwards, the kids enjoyed snacks from Ministop and Hot Loops Donuts while watching the short program hosted by The Children’s Library, Gokongwei Brothers Foundation’s multi-media learning center. The show included a story-telling session, games and performances from GMA7 child stars Ella Guevarra and Bea Binene. The young performers were joined by Tom World’s mascots, Tom and Joy as well as Handyman’s mascot, Bow Wow and Toys “R” Us’ Geoffrey. The kids went home with prizes and loot bags from Universal Robina Corporation, Digitel LEC, Toys “R” Us, Robina Agri Partners, Sun Cellular, Cebu Pacific, Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Bank and URC Flour.
