Yam Laranas Directs Blend 45 TVC
Highlights Pinoy Values
Blend 45, the coffee that’s truly Pinoy, pays tribute to Filipino culture in its latest television commercial (TVC). Created by multi-awarded director and cinematographer Yam Laranas, the TVC focuses on much-loved Pinoy traits of hospitality and politeness as shown through a typical day in Juan De La Cruz’s life.
“This feel-good commercial is a slice of Pinoy life,” says Yam, who became widely known for the first mainstream Hollywood film ever directed by a Filipino, The Echo. The commercial he conceptualized
for Blend 45 reflects the core values Filipinos are known for.
As the central character meets several members of the community, he is greeted warmly, hospitably offered breakfast and even a ride to work. He politely declines all offers, until he is presented with an irresistibly hot and calming cup of Blend 45 coffee. Of course, just like any true-blooded Pinoy, he just can’t say no to that delectable coffee mildness which is distinctly Filipino.
“The main message of the commercial is kuhang-kuha ng Blend 45 ang sarap at lasa na di matanggihan ng mga Pinoy noon at ngayon” Direk Yam adds. Blend 45 truly captures the distinct flavor Filipinos have loved for 45 years now.
On a personal note, Direk Yam adds “Blend 45 is a real Filipino product and it ’s been here for a long time, and I want to be like that. I think I want to be a Filipino known all over the world. I don’t want to be a Hollywood director; I want to be known as a Filipino director who makes films in Hollywood.” Direk Yam also directed Blend 45’s television commercial twelve years ago.
Blend 45’s real coffee goodness mirrors the warmth and simplicity of Filipino living, that is why a steaming serving of the kapeng Pinoy na Pinoy is imbibed as part of the everyday lives of Juan dela Cruz. Also available in 3-in-1 coffee mix, Blend 45 is available in all the leading supermarkets and groceries nationwide.
